There are no strings attached in this puppet‑powered version of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic! Mikado explodes onto the stage with felt, foam, and absolutely no shame.
Expect a marketplace of mischief where cookie‑addicted creatures flirt outrageously, bargains turn into battles, and every puppet has something to hide. It’s bold, bonkers, a little bit saucy, and gloriously unhinged. A comedy for grown‑ups and children who like their theatre wild, witty, and just the right amount of wrong.

“Completely mesmerising from start to finish.”
Meet Hypermnestra, Oenone, Ariadne, Laodamia and Phillis. You've heard of them right? No! What about Paris, Theseus, Hercules, Jason?
Tired of being just a footnote in the swaggering epic tales of these "Great" heroes, the Heroines are loud, proud and ready to take centre stage. Princesses, Queens, Nymphs, Politicians and Pioneers, they are grabbing the spotlight to show you that their stories, women's stories, are worth more than the two lines they were originally assigned.
Based on a series of fictional letters called The Heroides written by the Roman poet Ovid, now transformed by 15 leading female and non-binary British playwrights into modern monologues called 15 Heroines.
This show portrays five of these stories, delving into the death of a beloved brother, abandoned by a lover, finding hope for a better future in an arranged marriage, the worry of losing your soulmate to war and trying to hold your country together at a time of political turmoil.
Perfect for fans of Madeline Miller, Natalie Haynes and Pat Barker.
An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
