ABOUT DNYT
Discarded Nut Youth Theatre is a high-quality youth theatre unparalleled for nurturing every individual that it engages with, working to shape pathways that help them achieve their greatest potential. We strive to support and encourage young people at every stage of their development as both performers and individuals - challenging and changing people’s perceptions of what young people can do.
Discarded Nut Youth Theatre (DNYT) run weekly youth theatre rehearsals at The Nutshell which culminate in an annual showcase or production. DNYT also run creative holiday workshops as well as offering work experience opportunities and roles for early career creatives through their Incubator Scheme.
We are committed to our young people from their very first steps on stage through to their first professional engagement and beyond. Our youth theatre nurtures talent at every stage, providing a clear pathway from early exploration to advanced, pre-professional training. We don’t just develop performers, we help shape confident, resilient, and imaginative young people, supporting them from first experiences in theatre through to drama school auditions and professional opportunities.
DNYT provides a safe, inspiring, and ambitious environment where young people are supported, challenged, and encouraged to achieve their best as an individual and as part of a team. In doing so, they help change perceptions of what young people can achieve when given the opportunity to shine.

ACTING
At DNYT, we offer young people inspiring creative experiences that challenge their thinking, develop artistic understanding, and provide high-quality training in a supportive, inclusive environment. From playful theatrical journeys for ages 8–13 to bold, collaborative productions by our older company (ages 13+), every participant enjoys a fun, professional experience that nurtures their talent and love for the performing arts.

MUSICAL THEATRE
Our musical theatre youth companies welcome children from Year R upwards, nurturing confidence, creativity, and performance skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. From their first steps on stage, members build friendships, learn teamwork, and experience the joy of musical theatre, ultimately performing in bold, thought-provoking shows from Broadway and the West End as part of our oldest company.

SHOW IN A WEEK
At Discarded Nut, we want every summer holiday to be a memorable one. Join us for an exciting week of acting, music, creativity, and fun as we bring magical stories to life through bold and imaginative performances. You’ll dive into a world full of unforgettable characters, thrilling adventures, new friendships with plenty of surprises and where anything can happen! Each day brings lots of fun games and exciting rehearsals in singing, dancing and acting.

INCUBATOR
As part of Discarded Nut’s commitment to providing roles for new and emerging creatives we provide creative development opportunities for 16-25 year olds. These young creatives work with industry professionals to create work with Discarded Nut Youth Theatre whilst exploring, developing and honing skills as a creative individual and as a practitioner. Portfolio development is also part of the Incubator Scheme.
